Kafue River Lodge is located on the north bank of the Kafue River, opposite the Kafue National Park. It is situated at approximately 4 hours’ drive west of Lusaka.
This area is among Zambia’s best wildlife sanctuaries. The Lodge opens from April - December each year.
The Lodge has luxuriously furnished Chalets and Campsites. All of them are fully catered. They are built near the banks of the Kafue River. Kafue River is the only Zambian river that starts and ends within the boundaries of Zambia.

Established in 1924, it is the oldest and largest of Zambia's game sanctuaries. It covers an area of 22,400 square kilometres and is home to about 55 different animal species.
The Park is in the central-western part of Zambia near Lusaka and the Copperbelt. This is where Kafue River receives two of its largest tributaries, the Lunga and Lufupa Rivers.
The Kafue Park is home to Hippo, Elephant, Lion, Cheetah, Crocodile, Haartebeest, Sable, Zebra, Warthog, Puku, Impala and Leopard.
The Park has a wide variety of birdlife. It is especially known for the abundant species of water birds. More than 150 bird species have been recorded throughout the Park.
Species like the Yellow-billed Stork, the Reed Cormorant, yellow billed egret, the Cattle Egret, the African Fish Eagle, White-faced Whistling Duck, Egyptian Goose, African White-backed Vulture and a host of other birds. This makes Birding safaris at Kafue River Camp very rewarding experiences.
